WellStar Health System is headed in a new direction.
The healthcare industry itself is making a lot of changes to
allow for higher quality, better access to healthcare and the ability to keep a
competitive cost structure. WellStar, a nonprofit organization, is now focusing
on providing world-class healthcare to our communities and patients.
After deciding not to move further with Emory University,
they are pursuing new opportunities with other potential partners. A year and a
half ago, WellStar enacted a succession plan with Candice Saunders taking on
the duties of president and CEO while Reynold Jennings was named chief strategy
officer.
Saunders’ role will be based on creating partnerships that
stress WellStar’s role in all of its communities. Now West Georgia Health in
LaGrange, Georgia is prepared to join the system. Saunders’ reputation speaks
for itself as she joined WellStar as the president of WellStar Kennestone
Hospital, leading them to become the biggest tertiary regional medical center
in the southeast. She was even recently appointed as the chair of the Georgia
Hospital Association.
The same praise goes for Jennings. His responsibility is to
create new opportunities that will help future growth and stability throughout
Georgia. His previous contributions to WellStar have led to extreme growth and advance
such as the opening of two Health Parks and WellStar even being recognized on
FORTUNE’s 100 Best Companies to Work For® list for the past two years.
