If there's one thing the South does well, it's eat. Decatur's own Kimball House made the top spot on Southern Living's 100 Best Restaurants in the South. Known as an absolute celebration of oysters, intrepid restaurant scout Jennifer V. Cole cheered on Kimball House's absinthe-based cocktails and selection of more than 22 types of oysters, tasting notes and all.
Bacchanalia, one of Star Provisions Atlanta prides, is the next metro-Atlanta restaurant on the list at number 14. Cakes & Ale, also in Decatur, comes in at number 16. Empire State South and their fried chicken po boy came in at number 34, and The General Muir at number 43. Kevin Gillespie's dim sum joint Gunshow makes the list at number 44, Miller Union at 64 and One Flew South at 67.
Make sure to read through the list and see if your favorite southern restaurants from Miami, Florida to Washington, D.C. made the cut, or plan your end-of-summer eating road trip through the southern states with this delectable list as your guide.
