Stay Fit While Having Fun on Vacation

It's finally vacation season, and while many people are looking to relax and recover, they also want to stay fit. Here are five tips for staying fit while having fun on vacation from Jason Zavasnik, regional trainer at Orangetheory Fitness:

1.     Be Active. Go sightseeing, go for a hike or ride a bike around town. Get to know the destination without using a car.

2.     Enjoy Company. Take a walk with friends, relatives, kids, nieces or in-laws.

3.     Sample Cuisine. Live like royalty. Embrace the local fare while eating smaller portions more often. Sample appetizers in the afternoon, then again a few hours later. Allow food to be an experience, and then use it as fuel to go out and explore.

4.     Stay Hydrated. Be sure to drink enough water in order to enjoy those boozy beverages and not feel it the next morning. By limiting those enticing concoctions to just two drinks at a time, bodies can continue burning fat and won’t slow down.

5.     Indulge Moderately. Vacations are about relaxing and enjoying a new environment. The goal is refreshment. Be free to indulge in food, rest and drinks – but do everything in moderation.
