Peachtree City Updates: July 4th Events and City Project Reminders

Residents and visitors of Peachtree City: Get ready for a patriotic week as the city prepares for its annual Fourth of July Events. Check out the updates below—including roads to avoid because of city projects—for all the information you need to know to make this week fun for the whole family.

Fourth of July

9 a.m.: The parade begins, beginning at Peachtree Parkway South.

5-7 p.m.: Public Safety Demo at Drake Field (adjacent to City Hall). The demo gives you the chance to meet the city's firefighters and police officers, tour the fire safety bus, meet the canines and join in a water battle. Don't forget your bike and helmet to participate in a bike safety rodeo with a Police Mountain Bike instructor.

5-9 pm.: The 4th Fest at City Hall Plaza will be happening concurrently with the Public Safety Demo. The Fest will feature live music by “This Side Up” and “2ndChance" and activities like a rock climbing wall, inflatables, face painting, contents, public safety demonstrations and food vendors.

Dusk (9-10 p.m.): Stick around for the fireworks at dusk at Drake Field! Remember that no parking will be available on Highway 54 for the fireworks viewing.

Project Notices

Lake Peachtree

Fayette County is moving forward with additional testing that should be completed in July, and the Fayette County Commission has responded to the June 6 Mayor and Council letter regarding the project.  For more information, visit www.peachtree-city.org (link on main page to information and documents).

The path bridge by Hwy 54 is completed and open.

The Battery Way Boat Dock will be replaced at the same location with a new structure (currently being manufactured) once Lake Peachtree has been refilled.

Wynnmeade and Pinegate

Atlanta Gas Light will be working in the rights-of-way in Wynnmeade and Pinegate in the coming months to replace vintage pipe and gas mains.  Letters and door hangars should be placed in your neighborhood notifying you of the projected work dates. AGL will clean up their job sites as the project progresses, and yards will be restored to pre-construction condition by the completion of the project.

Kedron Dr.

Kedron Drive between Bridgewater and Shirewood is closed for the East Pond dam rehabilitation. Portions of the cart paths along the East Pond dam west of the cart tunnel are closed for the duration of construction, but the tunnel and path under Kedron Drive remain open.

Rockspray Pond Path

The dam rehabilitation for Rockspray Pond off Crosstown Road is underway, and the path over the dam has been closed.  Residents can bypass this path through the Rockspray neighborhood or from the path that connects Glen Clarin to Prestwick.  The path over the dam will reopen when the project is completed, which is expected by September 13.  Please KEEP OUT of the construction zone.  Carts are prohibited by law from using Peachtree Parkway.
