Gary W. Black announced today that the Georgia Grown Showcase event will be returning on Saturday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Atlanta State Farmers Market. Black currently serves as the Commissioner of Agriculture for the state of Georgia. These Showcase Events continue to bring together farmers and producers with consumers in the metro Atlanta area. They are aimed at increasing the consumer retail experience at the Atlanta State Farmer’s Market (ASFM).
Visitors to the market will find a wide variety of locally grown products, including fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. Pork, beef, poultry, olive oil, jams, jellies, barbecue sauce, honey, baked goods and other prepared foods will also be available for purchase, as well as unique Georgia made soaps, candles, beeswax lip gloss, candy and more. Kids and adults will also have the opportunity to enjoy fun, family-friendly activities such as a cooking demonstration, tractor show and kiddie train. Black encourages members of the community to support local producers by attending this event.
One of the largest of its kind in the world, the 150-acre market is located off I-75 in Forest Park. Georgia Farmers Shed 13 and 14 will be closed to through-traffic. Visitors are welcomed to park and walk through, mingling with vendors from across the state and browsing the selection of goods they are offering. In addition to the Showcase event, visitors can take advantage of on-site garden centers, wholesale and retail shopping opportunities, restaurants and a Georgia Grown welcome center.
