The highly-anticipated Broadway Musical, THE LION KING, is making its way to the Fox Theatre April
10-27. Gearing up for this hit
performance, the Center for Puppetry Arts will have an exhibit that showcases
four of the puppets that are used in the production. In partnership with Disney’s THE LION KING and Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta, THE LION KING: Up Close is scheduled to open on March
11.
Award-winning designs by Julie Taymor and Michael Curry will be
showcased through the iconic masks of The
Lion King characters, Simba, Nala, Mufasa and Scar. In addition, the puppet of the dignified
red-billed hornbill, Zazu, will also be on display. This exhibit will allow guests to get an
intimate look at the puppetry used extensively in THE LION KING performance. Plus, visitors will learn more about the
Broadway musical prior to its highly anticipated return engagement in Atlanta.
Entrance to THE LION KING: Up Close is included with admission to the
Center for Puppetry Arts. To make the most of a visit, patrons are encouraged attend
a Create-A-Puppet Workshop where they can make their own puppet to take home.
