Markers
are being added at mile and quarter-mile points throughout the Atlanta BeltLine
to help police respond to calls for help, reports the Atlanta Business
Chronicle.
The
BeltLine is a series is paved trails that wind through Atlanta woods, parks and
neighborhoods.
These
mile markers will provide a way for BeltLine users to tell police exactly where
they are, should they need assistance.
Markers
are only one of the steps being taken to increase security on the BeltLine
after several robberies have raised concerns about safety. The city also
recently approved the installation of $400,000 in lightning and security
cameras. The APD is also adding 15 additional officers in June to head up the
Path Force to police the BeltLine on bikes.
