Atlanta, a Job-Creating Machine

The ever-expanding metropolis of Atlanta is poised to become one of the nation's top eight metro areas in job growth through 2017, according to the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. CareerCast named Atlanta one of the top 10 cities to find a job as of March 2012, and it's also known by Thumbtack.com, in partnership with the Kauffman Foundation, as the fifth friendliest city for small businesses.

In April 2012 the U.S. Census Bureau released metro Atlanta's population estimate for 2011 as 5,359,205, ranking it as the ninth largest in the country. As recently as June 2012 Forbes named Atlanta and Savannah among the top 25 best places to retire and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport won Air Cargo Week's World Air Cargo Award for Airport of the Year for the third time.

Check out how Atlanta is leading the pack in job creation compared to other U.S. metro areas.
