The well-known summer event Slide the City is coming to
Decatur this month!
It’s the 30th anniversary of the Decatur Business
Association, and they’ve decided to make a HUGE splash this summer. For just 24
hours, a 1000 foot long water slide will sit in the middle of W. Ponce de Leon
Ave stretching all the way from Clairemont down just past Ponce de Leon Place.
If a 1,000-foot water slide down Ponce de Leon Avenue sounds
like a city-wide blast, you won’t want to miss this. It’s a way to shake up the
annual Decatur Beach Party, and Atlantans will enjoy more than three football
fields worth of bright vinyl complete with rushing water at this
family-friendly slip-and-slide traveling water event. Attendees can expect live
music and refreshments and are welcome to bring water buckets, floaties and
water guns (non-realistic of course), to squirt, spray, splash and get all
attending soaked.
Regular registration is still available now for $45. The
registration gets you a wristband (that gives you the opportunity to slide
three times), a tube, a mouth-guard and a temporary tattoo. Same-day
registration is on July 25 for $50.
