Several top 10 amateur players, including No. 1 ranked junior amateur Scottie Scheffler, will participate in the Dogwood Invitational's 48th annual tournament in June.
Scheffler, a University of Texas signee, is a 2013 USGA Junior Amateur Champion and earned fourth place in the Terra Cotta Invitational. Other top 10 players include Georgia Tech player Anders Albertson, runner-up in the 2014 ACC Championship; Kennesaw State player Jimmy Beck, the 2013 Georgia Amateur Champion and 17th in the Jones Cup Invitational; Cameron Hooper, 2013 Georgia Mid-Amateur Champion; and Georgia Tech player Seth Reeves, third ranked amateur in the U.S. and 2013 Southeastern Amateur Tournament Champion.
“This year marks another great opportunity to continue the long tradition of supporting elite amateur golf,” said Tournament Chairman Edward Toledano. “Each tournament welcomes the best amateur golfers in the field to participate in The Dogwood, pushing us through the ranks as one of the premier amateur events in the country.”
The Dogwood Invitational is ranked as one of the top 15 amateur golf tournaments in the nation and one of the top 30 in the world. The 2014 Invitational will have a full field of 90 players.
Since 1941, The Dogwood Invitational has been hosted at Druid Hills Golf Club. The tournament is run by The Dogwood Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit, and proceeds from sponsorships are directed to the Atlanta Junior Golf Association and The Wayne Reynolds Scholarship Foundation. The Dogwood is by invitation only, with a full qualifier held Monday, June 23, prior to tournament play and is open to the public beginning with first round of play on Wednesday, June 25 at 8 a.m.
