American Family Care, based in Birmingham, Ala., plans to expand
in metro Atlanta. The company also acquired Doctors Express. With the
acquisition, the Doctors Express name will be changed to ACF in the next 14-18
months.
AFC has two centers in the area—one in Windward
and one in Prado. Doctors Express has one center in Buckhead.
Initial plans for AFC include opening three additional urgent care
clinics in Roswell, Woodstock and West Cobb. Each clinic will cost $2-$3
million and will create more than 20 jobs. The typical clinic has 10 exam rooms
and a procedure area, and can see an average of 56 patients a day.
