Two Atlanta retailers made the National Retail Federation’s list
of top retailers for 2012. The list, published in the July 2013 issue of STORES Magazine, ranks retailers in order of their U.S.
sales for the year.
At No. 5 is The Home Depot Inc. whose U.S. sales in 2012
were up 6.4 percent year-over-year to $66 billion. The one-stop-shop for
do-it-yourselfers opened its doors in Atlanta in 1979.
Chick-fil A Inc. took the No. 80 spot on the list.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. was ranked as the nation’s largest
retailer, grossing in an astounding $328.7 billion in U.S. sales in 2012. Kroger
came in second place, and Target rounded out the top three.
