Android app development, health coaching and medical assisting
are among the new classes that will be highlighted at a free career training
expo at the College of Continuing and Professional Education at KSU Center,
3333 Busbee Drive, on July 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
More than 40 professional certificate programs with
instruction are offered at KSU Center or online. Each year, 18,000 students are
able to learn new career skills that will help them either re-enter the
workforce or advance in their current careers. Barbara S. Calhoun is the dean
of the college.
At the career training expo, attendees will have direct access
to program managers and directors, instructors, and current and former
students. Sessions on the programs will take place throughout the event.
A pedorthist certificate program and knife skills class are
even more of the new offerings this year. Other programs include culinary, web
design, paralegal, human resources, languages and many more professional
industries. Leisure programs, summer camps and online classes are also offered
through the college.
Financial aid information will also be available that night.
Some programs qualify for the Workforce Investment Act and military education
benefits.
Registration will be active during the expo. Attendees will
receive a 5-percent discount on classes (some restrictions apply). Student gift
packs will be given to all who register that night, and a drawing will also be
held for an iPad mini.
Parking
