Atlanta, GA: Tradition infused with global punch thanks to heritage-minded chefs
That's how Southern Living magazine described the Peach City on their list of "Tastiest Towns in the South."
While Durham, NC took home the title, Atlanta held its own, impressing editors and voters. Atlanta was recognized as a city whose cuisine has a feel of tradition inflused with global punch, thanks to heritage-minded chefs, according to the magazine.
Highlighted are Atlanta's star tastemakers, where to go for the best bites and the best nightcap:
"Chef Linton Hopkins at Restaurant Eugene and Holeman & Finch Public House is the city’s star tastemaker, according to Southern Living, and is recognized for putting the Southern staple sorghum back in the spotlight. The magazine also singles out dishes created by Stephen Satterfield at Miller Union, Ford Fry at The Optimist and Asha Gomez at Cardamom Hill. The magazine recommends “a boosy, house-bottled soda such as a Blue-eyed Boy (Bombay Sapphire gin, mint, elderflower, and peach bitters) at Lure as a nightcap."
