News Release from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
ATLANTA — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was listed as one of the most social airports in the world by Facebook. Hartsfield-Jackson was the second-most-popular airport that people checked into between August and November, according to Facebook.
“We are honored that Facebook has rated us the second-most-social airport,” Aviation General Manager Louis Miller said. “We feel that social media are effective tools to communicate with and engage our customers on a new level.”
Facebook compiled the list of the top 25 airports in the world based on people’s check-ins via Facebook or a third-party location application.
Hartsfield-Jackson’s social media program launched with a YouTube channel in December 2009. The channel has become a great source for information about happenings at the world’s busiest airport, including video updates on construction of the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal, set to open next spring. Hartsfield-Jackson’s YouTube channel is one of the most-viewed airport channels, with more than 660,000 video views to date.
The Airport also maintains accounts with Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Flickr to communicate effectively with customers:

It's so true! Just last week I checked in on FourSquare the Atlanta airport, and it was "Swarming" with over 100 people checked in.
My final destination was Philadelphia, and checking in there I only found 44 other people checked in with me on FourSquare.
I take pride in Atlanta's Social Savvy-ness. :)
I'm lucky part of my job is to make local homebuilder, SR Homes (www.SRHomesGA.com), social!
